The Principal Front-End Engineer at Peerspace is a technical leadership role responsible for driving the architecture and implementation of world-class front-end technology for the Peerspace platform. In this individual contributor role, you will collaborate with engineers, product teams, design teams, and other stakeholders to create a seamless, scalable, and performant front-end experience. Your expertise will shape the web experience for millions of users, ensuring that front-end excellence aligns with the company’s broader technology strategy and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Ownership: Lead the front-end technology strategy, architecture, and implementation, acting as the owner of front-end web technology for the platform.
• Leadership: Mentor and guide front-end developers, ensuring high standards of technical execution and collaboration within the team.
• Collaboration: Partner closely with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to ensure front-end solutions meet business and product objectives while providing a smooth, scalable developer experience.
• Technical Excellence: Build modern, performant, and maintainable web applications that scale globally, with a focus on optimizing the user experience for millions of users.
• Continuous Improvement: Drive a culture of continuous improvement through iteration, experimentation, metrics, and adopting new technologies and standards.

• Experience: 10+ years in software development, with at least 5 years of experience in front-end development.
• Core Technologies: Expertise in React and Next.js, with proficiency in CSS and related frameworks.
• State Management: Expertise in robust front-end state management and integration with platform services and third-party APIs.
• Micro-Frontends: Proficiency in building micro-frontends and scaling them as a development practice.
• SPAs&SSR/SSG: Proficiency in building single-page applications (SPA) with server-side rendering (SSR) and/or static site generation (SSG).
• Design Systems&Component Libraries: Experience in implementing design systems and component libraries to maintain consistent UI/UX.
• Front-End Build Systems: Proficiency with front-end build systems and CI/CD pipelines for web applications.
• Responsive Design: Experience building responsive applications that support both desktop and mobile platforms.
• SEO Optimization: Experience optimizing front-end technologies for SEO and working with digital marketing teams.
• Caching&Performance: Expertise in scalable caching (e.g., using CDNs), performance testing, real-user monitoring, and application performance monitoring.
• A/B Testing: Familiarity with experiment frameworks and A/B testing.
• Internationalization&Accessibility: Knowledge of internationalization, localization, and ensuring accessibility (WCAG compliance).
• Testing&Automation: Experience with unit testing and test automation frameworks for front-end code.
• Adjacent Skills: Experience with back-end, DevOps, mobile development, UX/UI design, or database technologies is a plus.
